Situated in the southern reaches of Africa, Botswana is renowned for its pristine wilderness areas characterised by deep lagoons, wetlands, lush palms, rugged hills and desert plains scattered with scrubland. The country’s primary tourist drawcard is undoubtedly the vast red expanse of the Kalahari Desert and its remarkably beautiful Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world. These natural wonders provide a tranquil haven for an abundance of African wildlife to thrive. Other highlights include the impressive Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, where visitors are privy to massive zebra migrations during the flood season; the Savuti plains, which host large prides of lions; and the Tsodilo Hills, where 4500 rock paintings form a unique record of human settlement over many millennia.

A nation of spectacular natural beauty, friendly people and rich culture, Zimbabwe’s status as one of Africa’s leading safari destinations was dampened for years by its political instability.

Batonka Guest Lodge is situated in the quiet residential suburb of Victoria Falls, just 2.2 km from the Victoria Falls Rainforest entrance and 1km from the town centre. The Lodge is set in lush gardens, a tranquil haven away from the bustle of town but within easy walking distance of the main attractions.

Batonka Guest Lodge offer 22 air- conditioned rooms, complete with a balcony, overlooking the beautiful garden. All rooms are set on ground level and comfortably furnished with a TV and coffee station. There are two blocks of 6 rooms and two blocks of 5 rooms, each carefully positioned around the property to give maximum privacy. Eleven rooms have a bathroom with a double basin vanity unit, bath, toilet and shower. The other rooms are the same but have no bath tub. The rooms can all be converted from a twin room to a double room on request. And some rooms have inter-leading doors making it ideal for families.

The main area has the dining facilities, lounge areas, reception and curio shop. The dining facility can be either indoors or on a large spacious and outdoor terrace area overlooking the garden and swimming pool. The restaurants offer a full English breakfast and a choice of wholesome home style cooking for lunch and dinner. There is a comfortable lounge area inside with a fireplace, and an outdoor lounge area is also available for guests.

Bakwena Lodge is situated near the Chobe National Park on the banks of the Chobe River near the village of Kazangula. The name Bakwena embraces the surrounding culture of Botswana, meaning ‘people of the crocodile’ and is also one of the largest tribes in Botswana. Bakwena Lodge features ten rondavel-style river view chalets (including one family unit), and five tree top chalets. The river view chalets sit at ground level with small, private decks in front surrounded by indigenous riverine bush, looking towards the Chobe River. The treetop chalets are elevated three metres above the ground on stilts, with large, private decks looking into the tree canopy. Both river view and treetop chalets offer twin or double beds, as well as an indoor and outdoor shower. The River view family chalet offers two bedrooms with a shared bathroom (with indoor and outdoor shower).
The personal touch of owners can be felt from the hand-selected furniture to the food served at meal times where simple, African-fusion dishes, inspired by traditional Tswana cuisine are offered. The swimming pool and main area with its lounge, restaurant and Rain Tree bar overlooking the river offers guests a relaxed atmosphere to unwind in.

Activities include game drives or river cruises in the Chobe National Park. The option to engage in a village tour or bicycle ride to the world’s only four nation border or village can be arranged with management on arrival.
