13-day Botswana Lodge and Mobile Safari (Superior)

This Botswana safari experience combines well-located lodges with an fully-serviced mobile tenting – getting off the beaten track in pristine wilderness.  Starting in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe for 2 nights, you then head over into Chobe National Park.  From there we fly you down to Khwai where you meet your  guide and settle into camp without having to lift a finger.   All tents are pre-erected by our staff with en-suite facilities and full board for the next six nights of non-participation mobile safari covering the Khwai and Moremi Game Reserve area.  From there your last two nights are at Pelo Camp.  The word Pelo in Setswana means ‘heart’ – a fitting name inspired by the distinct heart-shaped island in the heart of the Jao Concession on which the camp is built. This is the Delta as it is meant to be enjoyed – remote, genuine, and wild.

Day 8 – 10 : Khwai Community Area

After an early breakfast followed by a game drive, you head northeast to the Khwai Community Area (about 3-4 hours depending on sightings). The area is well known for hippos and some impressive old bull elephants, and you can also hope to spot giraffe, zebra and antelope plus lion, cheetah and leopard. Later, having reached your new camp, you’ll have the chance to go for a night drive, seeking out shy, nocturnal creatures.  You have 3 nights (2 full days) exploring the Khwai floodplains. The Khwai concession is separated from Moremi Game Reserve by the Khwai River and there are large herds of elephants, lion, leopard and wild cat here, as well as many other species. We will explore by 4x4 vehicle and you can also go for a guided walks, an activity not permitted inside the national parks and reserves. These allow you closer encounters with nature and compliment the game drive experience well.
