7-day Botswana Wilderness Safari

Our 7-day Botswana Wilderness Safari is perfect for those wishing to visit the best wilderness areas in Botswana in very comfortable mobile camping safari style.  Starting in Maun and ending in Kasane (Northbound) or vice versa (Southbound).  The Fully Serviced is a camping safari that does not require any participation from guests. All camp set-up and camp chores are carried out by our teams. There is one guide with guests at all times and a backup team (camp assistants/chefs) in a backup vehicle setting up and breaking camps, cooking meals, etc. Tents are more spacious than on the semi-participation camping safaris and feature extra conveniences.

Tour Summary

Full Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 : Moremi Game Reserve

As the safari starts at 07h30 on Day 1 you will need to pre-night in Maun. We can assist with pre-safari arrangements.

An optional scenic flight over the Delta is available, but due to time constraints will have to be done on the day of your arrival, before the safari starts.  If you are interested in doing this activity, please confirm with your guide when arriving.

Your guide will meet you at 07h30 at a pre-arranged meeting point in Maun. From Maun you will drive through to Moremi / Khwai, one of the best wilderness areas of Botswana which covers swamp and dry areas. The next two days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for, while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. Game drives in the early morning as the sun rises and in the late afternoon as the sun sets will be the norm.

Camping will be in private designated campsites with ensuite bush ablutions on every tent. (L, D)

Maun – Moremi / Khwai: 150km, 6h (including game drive)

Day 2 : Moremi Game Reserve

Game drives to explore the region surrounding the Khwai River (North-east Moremi / Khwai Concession). A mokoro excursion will take you along a tributary of the Khwai River to view game from another perspective and to experience this tranquil mode of transport. (B, L, D)

Day 3 : Savuti, Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park, with its diverse and striking landscapes, will be your next destination.  As you continue your search for wildlife, you will traverse the drier region of Savuti where bull elephants dot the plains.  Savuti is very well known for its predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and even African wild dog.  The Savuti Channel has started flowing again after being dry for the last 30 years.  The arrival of water is changing the landscape as well as accommodating different species which historically have not been able to survive in the rather arid plaines of Savuti. This exciting event has allowed large breeding herds of elephant as well as buffalo to visit the area. Camping will be in private designated campsites with ensuite bush ablutions on every tent. (B, L, D)

Moremi / Khwai – Savuti: 120km. 5-6h

Day 4 : Savuti, Chobe National Park

Game drives to explore Southern Chobe National Park (Savuti / ZweiZwei). (B, L, D)

Day 5 : Chobe River Front

You will then head northwards to the Chobe River where your game drives will meander along the banks of the river, followed by the call of the majestic African Fish Eagle.  The Chobe River Floodplain is an amazing game viewing area where water attracts large herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra and other herbivors.  Due to the proliferation of prey, predators are likely to be close at hand.  Sun sets in this region as always spectacular and allow amazing photographic opportunities.  Camping will be in private designated campsites with ensuite bush ablutions on every tent. (B, L, D)

Savuti - Chobe River: 170km, 5h

Day 6 : Chobe River Front

Game drives to explore Northern Chobe and floodplain. (B, L, D)

Day 7 : Departure

The safari officially ends at 12h00 on Day 7 at Kalahari Tours, Kasane after a cruise on the Chobe River.
