8-day Tanzania Wilderness Camps

Our popular 8-day Tanzania Lodge Safari, using Tanganyika Wilderness Lodges will take you on an epic adventure through some of northern Tanzania’s best-known wildlife areas.  Starting in Arusha, you travel to Lake Manyara National Park, where one can enjoy its unique birdlife. The next destination is Serengeti National Park.  A UNESCO World Heritage Site the Serengeti is home to the Big 5 and world-renowned for its wildlife viewing opportunities.  Lastly, you will visit Ngorongoro Crater, a haven for wildlife located on the eastern edge of the Rift Valley, before returning to Arusha.

Arrival may be at any time on day 1. Please note that the earliest check-in at Ilboru Safari Lodge is 1400 hours.
The earliest departure from Kilimanjaro International Airport on the last day of the safari should be after 1600 hours.

Day 1 : Arusha

Arrive Kilimanjaro Airport, where you are met and transferred to your hotel located a short distance from Arusha Town Centre.  Overnight Ilboru Safari Lodge on bed and breakfast basis

Day 2 : Tarangire National Park

Morning at leisure with safari briefing followed by lunch. In the afternoon, join seat in vehicle safari and depart Arusha passing through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations.  At the town of Makuyuni continue to Lake Burunge on the western edge of Tarangire National Park Gate. Here your lodge is located on the shores of the lake adjacent to the park. Arrive for dinner and overnight

Day 3 : Ngorongoro Crater

Morning board your safari vehicle for game viewing within the park in search of its large lion prides and elephant herds.  Drive through the baobab tree lined park and explore the silale swamp. Return to your camp for lunch.

Afternoon drive north through the park and to the town of Makuyuni where you continue the journey through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over the distant Lake Manyara.

Day 4 : Ikoma

After breakfast there is a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park that returns to the camp for lunch. Leaving Lake Manyara behind, the journey continues north west across the stunning hilly countryside of the highlands which is filled with wheat and coffee plantations, and then into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of the Serengeti, where you begin spotting wildlife as you approach the entrance gate. Complete the formalities and enter the park with game viewing en route to the camp arriving for dinner

Day 5 : Ikoma

A semi-permanent tented camp located in Central Serengeti, strategically positioned to allow exploration of the vast Serengeti Plains. The camp offers comfortable accommodation and a unique opportunity to enjoy a true safari camp experience.

A cosy mess tent isolated in the centre of the camp where meals are served. The campfire is ready every evening for appetisers and snacks before dinner. The camp offers 15 tents with en suite facilities.

Day 6 : Karatu / Ngorongoro

After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro viewing wildlife across the vast Serengeti plains, stopping off en route for your picnic lunch. You then continue your journey towards Ngorongoro where you pass along the rim of the crater and descend to the park gate and your lodge located in Karatu surrounded by farmland and a view of the backwall of the crater.

Day 7 : Karatu / Ngorongoro

A highlight awaits you this morning as you depart to explore what is commonly referred to as the World’s largest natural wildlife arena. After an early breakfast, you drive to the park gate and descend with a picnic lunch through the early morning mists and 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the World’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. A truly unique wildlife experience.  Return to the lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 : Departure

Depart Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast, head south east past the highlands and the
Karatu district, Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu Village. You will view the scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations here before journeying down the spectacular escarpment turning south on to the main road to Arusha. The journey will pass through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. On arrival in Arusha lunch is provided followed by transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport
to connect international departure flight . END OF OUR SERVICES
