
All minor children travelling through any South African or Botswana border must have an unabridged birth certificate or an equivalent document. This forms part of South Africa’s fight against human trafficking.
Children under 18 travelling with two parents have to produce the following documentation:
- Certified copies of unabridged (i.e. unchanged and original) birth certificates
- Passports valid for six month with at least six empty pages
Children travelling with one parent or a guardian must have:
- Certified copies of unabridged (i.e. unchanged and original) birth certificates
- Passports valid for six month with at least six empty pages
- An affidavit from the living or custodial parent giving permission for the child to be travelling
