VISA, PASSPORTS AND TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Many visas for countries in East Africa and Southern Africa can be obtained at the border. Some visas can be obtained online, so it is essential that you check the visa requirements of every country you are visiting in Africa, as visa formalities can change overnight.
PASSPORTS
For all countries we feature, you will need a valid passport which is valid for six months in excess of the date of your planned departure from the country. You should also ensure that you have a minimum of TWO blank pages in your passport for each time that you will pass through an international border in your itinerary.
OBTAINING VISAS
If travelling on a New Zealand passport, most visas in East Africa and Southern Africa can be obtained on arrival either Free of Charge or for a fee of between US$ 30 to US$ 50 per person, paid in US$ cash. Several African countries, for example Kenya and Uganda, allow you to purchase a visa online, before travelling. Where this is an option, we do recommend obtaining this visa before travelling as can save time on arrival.
If booking a safari with African Safaris Ltd we will advise you of what visas are required and the application process.
TRAVELLING TO BOTSWANA & ZIMBABWE WITH CHILDREN UNDER 18
To enter or leave Botswana and Zimbabwe, all children under the age of 18 years travelling with two birth parents need to travel with both their passport AND an original full (or unabridged) birth certificate (inclusive of the names of both parents). All names on documents must match precisely.
