We surely did have a wonderful time – absolutely adored it all from start to finish. For me, and I have travelled pretty extensively, this was a trip of  a lifetime.  We had a wonderful guide in Collen – faultless really; kind, caring, good fun but absolutely reliable and responsible, knowledgeable and informative – he had that clever [but genuine] knack of making each one of the group feel special and important and I loved the way whenever I would ask him a question, he’d put his arm around me and say in his inimitable voice ‘speak to me’ – we were all dumbfounded by his ability to spot ‘game’, from elephants and leopards to a tiny fruit bat high in a tree and even a little chameleon on the dusty road as we were speeding by! The two assistants were also just lovely – Richard cooked fantastic meals over the camp fire [I put on 2 kgs!] which Philip and I really enjoyed and he was also knowledgeable and informative – always so willingly and good-naturedly too which just makes any travel experience – and then there was dear, shy but lovely natured Mishek who worked tirelessly as the general helper, doing everything from putting up the tents to cooking with Richard and… keeping Collen and Richard well amused with obviously really funny stories – we LOVED hearing them all roaring with laughter down in the truck’s cab as we sped for hour after hour over those seemingly unending dry, dusty, unsealed Namibian roads!  Cheers Claire – we will remember our ‘Great Trek’ for a long time and have loads of wonderful photographs to help keep our memories intact.
