Christine and John (2012)
So many highlights, whales at Hermanus, cave paintings and rock engravings in Damaraland, animals at Etosha and Chobe, mokoro rides in the Okavango (especially in the evening), Victoria Falls to name a few. Overall a great experience and perhaps a shame that we didn’t do it some years ago. We certainly have some great memories and photos (lots of elephants!). Thought we were going to miss out on the big cats until we got to Etosha and then Chobe where we saw lions including 5 young ones. Best game parks were definitely Etosha (the water holes there attracted so many different animals at the same time) and Chobe (so many elephants everywhere & the river cruise gave us a brilliant view of hippos as well as being a bird lover’s paradise). Chobe was an absolutely perfect place at the end of the tour, we did one river cruise and 1 game drive but otherwise were happy to rest, relax and watch the animals at the lodge water hole (right in front of our tent). Accommodation was generally excellent, even the basic (huts in Kalahari and tents in Okavango) were suited to the area and fine. The Elephant Lodge & A’Zambezi Lodge were very comfortable & great at the end of the trip. Huge distances travelled so if we ever go back we would consider picking a few areas & flying between – not something I would have owned up to wanting prior to this. Thank you so much for putting it all together for us.
