7-day Rhino Track and Trail

Safari begins in Bulawayo and ends in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.  First, stay at Big Cave camp, which lies within the vast expanse of the famed Matobo Hills UNESCO World Heritage Site and borders the Matobo National Park. Matobo National Park offers the best chance of seeing black and white rhino, as the local wildlife authorities fiercely protect these endangered animals.  Then, move to Nantwich Lodge, the perfect location to discover the pristine wilderness and abundant wildlife of Northern Hwange National Park.  Then, finishing at the mighty Victoria Falls.

Full Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 – 2 : Matobo National Park

On arrival at Bulawayo Airport, you will be met and transferred by road to your accommodation, where you will spend the next two nights. The rest of the day will be at your leisure to relax beside the pool, or to partake in one of our activities offered at Big Cave Camp Wilderness area.

Matobo Hills is an area of exquisite beauty steeped in tribal history, ancient mystery and dramatic rock landscapes. The national park has been given UNESCO World Heritage status and is home to both white and black rhinoceros, sable antelope and the world’s densest population of leopard. Birdlife is prolific and includes the world's highest concentration of black eagles. We visit the National Park and Cecil John Rhodes grave and participate in Rhino Tracking.

Day 3 – 5 : Hwange National Park

After breakfast we depart Matobo Hills by road and make our way to your accommodation for the next two nights, Nantwich Lodge. This Hwange game lodge, situated in the Northwest corner of the park overlooks a large dam with resident crocodile and hippo, boasting one of the best views in Hwange National Park. Spend your time exploring this vast reserve, discovering secluded hides and waterholes where wildlife roams freely. Enjoy the unique opportunity to venture on guided bush walks (bush walks are seasonal), immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, and scents of the wild. Our safari hide offers a perfect vantage point for quiet observation, bringing you up close to nature.

Day 6 : Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

This morning, after breakfast, you will road transfer to Victoria Falls, where you will spend the night at the wonderful Ilala Lodge. This afternoon you can explore the mighty Victoria Falls on a guided tour. Thereafter, relax by the pool for the afternoon or partake in one of the optional activities on offer. Explore Vic Falls town to discover this laid-back travel hub where you can visit charming cafes or bustling markets. Find the best spot to view the Victoria Falls and be dazzled by the roar of the “Smoke that Thunders”. Feel the cool spray of the fine mist that rises meters above mighty Falls, where thousands of litres of water plunge down a steep gorge, gouging out a winding canyon below.

Day 7 : Departure

Our safari ends after breakfast. You will be transferred by road to Victoria Falls Airport in time for your departure flight. We hope to welcome you again one day on another of our African adventures!
