Kenya

Kenya is East Africa’s foremost safari destination, boasting no less than 60 national parks and game reserves. A Kenya safari not only boasts spectacular natural beauty in one of the most unspoiled places on earth, but it also brings you up close and personal with Africa’s most sought-after wildlife.

Here you will find the famed Maasai Mara, running contiguous with the Serengeti on the other side of the Tanzanian border. It is known not just for the presence of the Big Five, but also the annual Great Wildebeest Migration that sees up to 1.5 million animals crossing the Mara River in search of fresh pasture.  Elsewhere, Amboseli is known for its large elephant herds and views towards the snowdrifts of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Kenya is also home to 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

In addition to its famed national parks and game reserves, Kenya has more than 100 conservancies that see individuals and communities setting aside large tracts of land while ensuring a long-term livelihood for the region’s human population.  Kenya’s conservancies offer a more bespoke safari experience than the national parks they border and now offer safe sanctuary to more than half of Kenya’s wildlife, making the likes of Laikipia, Ol Pejeta and Rukinga destinations not to be missed.

Best time to visit Kenya

Being an equatorial country, Kenya enjoys higher than average temperatures throughout the year and experiences alternating wet and dry seasons rather than the more traditional ‘four seasons’.  Kenya has a varied landscape and wildlife and is a popular year-round destination for safaris and beach holidays. The peak season (July to September) offers the best wildlife action.
