8-day Under the Stars in Southern Tanzania

An exceptional way to experience not only the wildlife of these untamed parks but also pass through true rural Africa. You travel with your camp crew who make camp at each stop. Whilst your bush chef prepares your meals and you experience a closeness with nature that cannot be experienced in luxury tented camps.

Tents though basic are comfortable.  Fresh fruit as a breakfast starter as our eggs are prepared to order!

Day 1 - Dar es Salaam
You are met on arrival at Dar es Salaam's J K Nyerere International Airport by scheduled flight (booked by agent) and transferred to Southern Sun Hotel.  Overnight Southern Sun Hotel on BB basis

Day 2 - Selous Game Reserve
Pick the clients from Dar-es-Salaam, proceed to Selous Game Reserve with packed lunch. This is a 4.5 hour drive, where you will drive through a tarmac road for the first 150 kms, after that you will come to a small village called Kibiti where you make a right and that's where real Africa starts. The road is gravel bumpy and in the wet season, filled with water. On arrival at the campsite, you will find a complete bush, cleared enough to camp. From your tents, you will be seeing nothing but the flow of the Rufiji river, hippos popping there heads above the water and crocodiles gracefully wading in the current. Dinner will be served after 7 pm, however you do have an option of a boat safari from the time you arrive until dinner.   Overnight in camp on FB basis

Day 3 - Selous Game Reserve
After a hearty breakfast, you will depart for your full day game drive with a packed lunch. Today you will get to see a variety of game, including the African hunting dog, drive through different terrain, bush, savannah and miombo woodland. Selous, Africa's largest wildlife sanctuary with an area of 54,600 sq.km is bigger that Denmark and 4 times the size of Serengeti. It has the World's largest number of big game - elephant, buffalo, rhino; sable antelope. Selous also contains wildebeest, eland, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, hippo, leopard and lion. There are about 350 species of birdlife you will get back to camp late evening, for a hot dinner.  Overnight in camp on FB basis

Day 4 - Selous Game Reserve
After Breakfast proceed for full day game drive with packed lunch, dinner and overnight at Selous Game Reserve

Day 5 - Mikumi National Park
After Breakfast, proceed for Mikumi National Park, you will have to drive through the Selous game reserve to get to Mikumi. Mikumi is a small park but none the less, game is plenty, and the mkata plains provide spectacular viewing. You will stop en route to Mikumi to have your packed lunch.  Overnight in camp on FB basis

Day 6 - Ruaha National Park
After breakfast, depart for Ruaha with packed lunch, on arrival en route game drive to campsite outside the park. Ruaha, with an area of 10,300sq.km, is the second largest park, and second largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The great Ruaha River which flows along its entire eastern border, creating spectacular gorges and scenery, features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals include Greater and Lesser Kudu, Roan and Sable Antelope. Birdlife is rich, with over 370 species recorded.  Overnight in camp on FB basis

Day 7 - Ruaha National Park
After breakfast, depart for full day game drive with packed lunch. Ruaha has got arguably the best scenery in the southern safari sector as its got rivers, plains and is very wild. Back to camp for dinner and overnight

Day 8 - Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, half day game drive, back to camp for lunch, depart for Dar es Salaam. Transfer to Dar es Salaam's J K Nyerere International Airport for your onward connection (booked by agent). End of our services.
