15-day Discover Namibia

'Namibia' means 'open plains' in the ancient Hottentots' language. Defined by endless sunshine, scenic beauty and unusual contrasting topography, Namibia is sandwiched between two deserts - the Namib Desert, said to be the oldest in the world on its western coastline and the Kalahari Desert in the eastern interior. Namibia features the great Etosha National Park, boasting the country's largest concentration of safari game. The world's highest dunes are found in haunting scenery inspiring sombre reflection.

Day 2 & 3: Sossvlei/Sesreim
On day 2 we depart Windhoek.  This will be a long day but driving through beautiful country site and short stops in-between will reimburse us for that. On day 3 visit the world's highest sand dunes at Sossusvlei. There is an option of taking the shuttle into the dunes. (Own expense) At sunset these red sand dunes, which can reach heights of over 300 m, are absolutely spectacular and provide for a fantastic photo opportunity. With luck, there may even be water in the vlei (lake). [BLD]

Day 4: Swakopmund
The day is spent driving through the Namib Naukluft National Park and the Kuiseb Canyon on our way to Swakopmund. [BLD]

Day 5: Swakopmund
We have the opportunity to explore this quaint German town by day and night. There are a number of activities to enjoy here; sand boarding, quad biking, skydiving and even fishing. You may even dare to brave the Atlantic sea. [BLD]

Day 6: Twyfelfontein
We follow the barren Namibian coastline on our way out of Swakopmund to visit Africa's largest seal colony.
We then move onto the spectacular scenery of Twyfelfontein. The Petrified Forest is next on the itinerary before reaching Twyfelfontein where we walk to visit the ancient bushman's artwork carved and painted into the surrounding Mountains. [BLD]

Day 7 & 8: Opuwo
On day 7 we make our way to Opuwo. Opuwo is the gateway to the Kaokoveld region in the northwestern part of Namibia. The remote area south of the Kunene river is the home of the Himba people, who have kept their ethnic individuality and culture in the seclusion of Kaokoland. We include a Himba Excursion on day 8. [BLD]

Day 9: Kamanjab / Damaraland
Today we return South to Kamanjab, which is the gateway of the Damaraland. It is a world of incredible mountain scenery, a refuge for the rare desert elephant, black rhino and giraffe. [BLD]

Days 10, 11 and 12: Etosha National Park
On Day 10 we continue onto Etosha National Park. We spend 3 nights here, listening to the wild animals at night and going for game drives during the day, hoping to spot the ‘Big 5'. At night you'll have the opportunity to see the nocturnal animals of Etosha at the floodlit waterholes of the camps and during the day you'll visit the Etosha Pan to view animals like Lions, Cheetah, Elephants, Giraffes and the numerous different types of Antelope the park has to offer. In the evenings we will enjoy our guide's self cooked meals around the campfire. [BLD]

Day 13: Rundu
